Adjustability and ergonomics

What sets the Hero apart from typical gaming chairs is the integrated lumbar adjustment. A rotary dial on the right side of the backrest moves the lumbar pad in and out, which KitGuru’s review of the Hero platform highlights as one of the most granular support systems tested on a seat of this type. The 4D armrests add height, depth, width and rotation, and PCGamesN notes that each armrest sits on an independently adjustable support so users with narrower frames can bring the rests closer in. The backrest reclines from 90 to roughly 125 to 135 degrees depending on the source, with a multi-function tilt mechanism that lets the seat itself rock when engaged.

Build and materials

Manufacturer specifications list a steel frame, an aluminium base, Class 4 gas lift and 60 mm casters with a PU coating. Both the Vault-Tec product page and the Czech retailer Alza confirm PU leather as the upholstery material with cold foam inside. The cover is listed as 1.5 mm PU leather by Noblechairs, with the seat and backrest filled with cold foam and a memory foam head pillow included in the box. A lumbar cushion is also included, even though the integrated dial removes most of the need for it.

Comfort over time

On long sessions the wider seat base and backrest come into play. PCGamesN emphasises that the wider backrest is noticeably less restrictive than bucket-style racing chairs, which matters when shifting position over hours. The headrest uses memory foam and the chair holds its shape rather than bottoming out, which KitGuru credits to the full inner foam construction. With a maximum recommended user of 150 kg and DIN EN 1335 certification, the platform is rated for sustained office-style use, and that carries through to the Fallout edition.

What to weigh up

The main trade-off reported across Hero platform reviews is the price, which sits well above entry-level gaming chairs. Buyers should also note that the lumbar cushion has no strap, so positioning it takes a little effort each time you readjust. The Hero is otherwise straightforward to put together in around twenty minutes with the included tools, and the result feels closer to a premium office chair than to a racing seat, only dressed in Fallout colours.
